Acorn Nuts/Doomed Cap Nut
nut As name suggests, Acorn Nut got its name from from its shape. It is also called as doomed cap nut which prevents its contact from the external threads.
We produce premium quality Nuts from various metals & metal alloys with ASTM/ASME/DIN Standards & Specifications. We produce different types of nuts hot forged cold formed nuts in almost all shapes & sizes. We also provide passivation, quality coating further processing as per client's requirement.
We manufacturer fasteners with size range from M10 to M100 Hex Nuts, Heavy Hex Nut, Cap Nut, Acorn Nut, Serrated Flange Nut, Coupling Nut, Square Nut, Castle Nut, Wing Nut, Flange Lock Nut, Flex Lock Nut, High Nut, Kep Nut, Jam Nut, Nylon Lock Nut, Slotted Nut, Reversible Lock Nut, Custom Nut, T Nuts & other customized Nuts as per Client's requirement. We produce Hot Forged and Coled Formed Nuts Fasteners.
The acorn nut is a type of fastener which gets its name from its shape. Acorn nut is its common name and it is also called a crown hex nut, blind nut, cap nut or domed cap nut. It is a nut that has a domed top to cover the threads. This is to prevent contact with the external thread to protect the threads or protect other things the threads would rub against. In addition the dome gives a more finished appearance. It is usually made of brass, steel, stainless steel (low carbon content) or nylon. It can also be chrome plated and given a mirror finish.
There are two types of acorn nuts. One is low, or the standard acorn nut. The other is the high acorn nut. The high acorn nut is wider and higher and will protect extra long studs. There are also self-locking acorn nuts that have distorted threads in the hex area to create a tight friction fit to prevent the nut from vibrating loose.
There are standards governing the manufacture of acorn nuts. One is Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) Standard J483, High and Low Crown (Blind, Acorn) Hex Nuts. Another is Deutsches Institut für Normung (DIN) 1587, Hexagon Domed Cap Nuts.

NOTES:
- In addition to the indicated grade marking, all grades, except A563 grades O, A and B, must be marked for manufacturer identification.
- The markings shown for all grades of A194 nuts are for cold formed and hot forged nuts. When nuts are machined from bar stock the nut must be additionally marked with the letter ‘B’.
- Nuts are not required to be marked unless specified by the purchaser. When marked, the identification marking shall be the grade letter O, A or B.
- Properties shown are those of nonplated or noncoated coarse thread hex nuts.Properties shown are those of coarse thread heavy hex nuts.
- Properties shown are those of coarse thread heavy hex nuts.
- Properties shown are those of coarse 8-pitch thread heavy hex nuts.
- Hardnesses are Brinell Hardness Numbers.
- The nut manufacturer, at his option, may add other markings to indicate the use of atmospheric corrosion resistant steel.
